About Technica Ltd

Technica is an independent engineering and construction company solving complex challenges for the UK and international energy sectors. We deliver turnkey, multi-disciplinary projects — from design through to build — with control, confidence and care.

Our ‘Why’:
“Technica believe in long-term relationships. We want our clients to have total trust that we’ll deliver excellence in our solutions to their engineering problems.”

Technica is in an exciting phase of growth, driven by an ambitious 5-year strategy that will see us continue to expand, evolve, and strengthen our role in the energy transition. It’s an exciting time to join a business where you can grow your career, make a real impact, and help shape the future alongside a supportive and experienced team.

Why this role matters

Behind every successful project is a strong commercial team, and this role is at the heart of it.

We’re looking for a proactive and organised Commercial Assistant to support our Commercial Managers and Quantity Surveyors in delivering engineering projects from contract award through to final account. You’ll help keep commercial information accurate, organised and up to date, enabling the team to focus on delivering value to our clients.

Whether you’re maintaining project records, supporting financial reporting or coordinating subcontract administration, you’ll play an important role in ensuring our projects run efficiently and our commercial processes remain robust.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within commercial management in the engineering and construction sector.

How you’ll contribute

As a Commercial Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our projects commercially organised, financially accurate and running smoothly. Working closely with our Commercial Managers and Quantity Surveyors, you’ll provide the support that enables informed decision-making and successful project delivery.

You’ll be trusted to take ownership of key commercial processes, maintain accurate project information and ensure the team has the data and documentation they need to deliver projects efficiently and profitably.

You’ll:

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Commercial Team across engineering and construction projects.
  • Maintain accurate project files, commercial documentation and contractual registers in line with company procedures.
  • Assist with applications for payment, valuations, invoices, payment certificates and monthly commercial reporting.
  • Help compile Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and track project costs, commitments and forecasts.
  • Support subcontract administration, including documentation, payment applications, key dates and supplier information.
  • Maintain variation, early warning, compensation event and change control registers, ensuring actions and deadlines are followed up.
  • Prepare commercial correspondence and produce accurate reports, trackers, dashboards and spreadsheets.
  • Support supplier and subcontractor invoice reconciliation, final accounts and project close-out activities.
  • Ensure commercial and financial information is complete, confidential, compliant and readily available for reporting and audit.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team and identify practical opportunities to improve commercial administration processes.

What you’ll bring

Essentials:

  • Previous experience in an administrative or commercial support role.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and prioritise effectively.
  • A confident approach to working with numbers, data and detailed information.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a team.

Desirables:

  • Experience within construction, engineering or infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of commercial processes or contract administration.
  • Experience using ERP or commercial management systems.
  • An understanding of NEC contracts.
  • Experience supporting Quantity Surveyors or Commercial Managers.

What you’ll get

  • £33,500-£36,500 per annum
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Company Performance Bonus Scheme
  • Private healthcare (plus family options)
  • Company pension
  • Death in Service & Critical Illness cover
  • Work from anywhere in the UK
  • Recognition scheme & genuine commitment to your development
