Escobar GNLE Gasport – Excelerate Energy 150 150 Technica Ltd

Escobar GNLE Gasport – Excelerate Energy

GNL Escobar (GNLE), located on the Paran River, about 30 miles outside Buenos Aires City, is Argentina’s second liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving facility using Excelerate Energy’s Gasport design and engineered by Technica Ltd. As well as providing increased peak capacity for the high-demand winter months, the facility delivers additional natural gas supply and transport capacity to the Buenos Aires region.

Key Project Information;

  • Second LNG receiving facility in Argentina
  • Direct access to Buenos Aires region and Argentinas natural gas grid
  • Nine months from agreements/terms to in-service
  • Peak throughput capacity 600 MMcf/d (17,0 Mm/d)

Technica were engaged by Excelerate Energy to provide Mechanical & Civils designs for the High Pressure (HP) Loading Arm support risers and Operating/Maintenance platforms. This also comprised the Hydraulic Piping installation.

Our engineers provided specialist advice in the development of plant design and during the process design and operability reviews.

Technica were also engaged to design, construct and commission the Local Equipment Room (LER) which included all necessary control systems required to operate the GNLE plant.

The LER included the following systems: HP Loading Arm, Ship to Shore Link, Berthing Quick Release Hooks, Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), Fire and Gas, Emergency Shutdown System (ESD), Plant Control System (PCS) and SCADA work stations.

The Technica team worked closely with the YPF/AESA engineers responsible for the GNLE plant field design to ensure all interfaces were agreed prior to delivery and the LER and associated control systems could be installed with ease.

Key to the success of this project was our ability to pre-test all of the LER systems during an Integrated Factory Acceptance Test (iFAT) at our workshops in the UK, prior to delivery and installation at GNLE Argentina. This guaranteed all systems and associated interfaces were working before delivery to site and ensured an efficient on site commissioning period.

Continuity of site team: Having been involved in all stages of the design and construction, Technica provided a constant site based team of experts with previous Gasport experience to support the construction and commissioning phases, this included:

  • Project engineering, management and supervision of E, I, & Hydraulic piping installation.
  • Project engineering, management and supervision of specialist sub-Contractors for the HP loading arm, Ship to Shore Link and Berthing systems
  • Day to day interface with and user
  • YPF and main contractor AESA.
  • Installation supervision.
  • Site Acceptance Tests.
  • Commissioning.

GNLE is another example of Technicas proven record in supporting Excelerate Energy on fast track Gasport projects. The whole project took only 8 months to design, install and commission achieving a gas on date in record time.

Technica Expansion – New Office and Workshop Facility 150 150 Technica Ltd

Technica Expansion – New Office and Workshop Facility

Competence and Commitment Impress as we Host International Clients YPF and Excelerate Energy.

With repeat business driving growth our additional new office and workshop has opened, enabling us to extend our business relationship with our current clients and in preparation of undertaking new projects and challenges ahead.

The new office and workshops are essential for the continued growth of our design, project management and construction projects based both in the U.K and Internationally.International clients YPF from Argentina and Excelerate Energy from Texas, USA, were first to visit our new workshops and give their seal of approval, inspecting the containerised control rooms we had designed and constructed for export to Escobar, Argentina for the Escobar GasPort facility. The facility was officially opened by Tim Campbell who won the first series of the popular TV Series The Apprentice featuring Alan Sugar. Tim had previously worked as a Senior Planner within the Marketing and Planning Department of London Underground. After his victory he went on to become Project Director of Amstrad’s new Health and Beauty division. Tim started the Bright Ideas Trust in 2008 which offers funding and support for young people wishing to start their own business. Many thanks to Tim for offering his time for free for this event.

St Marys Cray Turbo Expander – Southern Gas Networks (SGN) 300 159 Technica Ltd

St Marys Cray Turbo Expander – Southern Gas Networks (SGN)

Technica have been selected to provide Process, HV Electrical, LV Electrical, Control & Instrumentation and Software Configuration design services for the St Marys Cray Turbo Expander Project.

The natural gas pressure reduction station, owned and operated by Southern Gas Networks at St Marys Cray, near Orpington, Kent is to be modified to generate electrical power to supply the local electrical distribution network. The modified installation will take high pressure gas from the Southern Gas Network Transmission System and reduce the pressure through a turbo expander coupled to an 11 kV generator. Prior to expansion the gas will be pre-heated to 70oC using low pressure water as the process heating fluid. The heated process water will be provided by a natural gas fuelled combined heat and power (CHP) set supplemented, as the heating demand requires, by low pressure hot water boilers. The CHP sets will also generate electrical power to supply the local electrical distribution network and provide high temperature water and low temperature water for process gas heating. To provided separation and the avoidance of contamination of the CHP sets and process water systems, heat will be recovered from the CHP and Boilers via intermediate heat exchanges.

All the new equipment will be housed within a purpose built acoustic building. A new Control Room and LV and HV Switch rooms will be also built to house the new control equipment.
