About Technica

Technica is an independent engineering and construction company solving complex challenges for the UK and international energy sectors. We deliver turnkey, multi-disciplinary projects — from design through to build — with control, confidence and care.

Our ‘Why’:
“Technica believe in long-term relationships. We want our clients to have total trust that we’ll deliver excellence in our solutions to their engineering problems.”

We’re entering a bold new chapter, underpinned by a 5-Year growth strategy that will see Technica evolve, expand and play a leading role in the energy transition. We’re looking for people who want to build something meaningful — for themselves, our clients, and our sector.

Why this role matters

We’re enhancing our Multidiscipline Engineering capability to support some of our most important and technically complex projects. But this is about more than delivering engineering — it’s about how our clients experience working with Technica.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the future growth of our multidiscipline engineering functions — bringing technical expertise, building trusted relationships, and ensuring clients feel confident in the solutions we deliver.

Part of the role will also mean taking responsibility for oversight and approval of mechanical design, working at a senior mechanical engineer level.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who:

  • Aspires to lead Technica’s multidiscipline Engineering Departments, providing technical authority, developing process capability, and ensuring high‑quality design delivery.
  • Understands that great engineering is not just technically correct, but clearly communicated and aligned with client needs
  • Takes ownership of mechanical design, bringing clarity and structure to complex engineering challenges
  • Enjoys working collaboratively and contributing to a growing, high-performing engineering team
  • Has the curiosity and ambition to develop within a dynamic and evolving business

You don’t need to have experience across every sector we operate in to succeed here.

You’ll work alongside other leaders and closely with the head of Engineering for Electrical, Control and Instrumentation, building trusted relationships, guiding multi-disciplinary teams, and managing experienced engineers. What matters most is your ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and deliver high-quality engineering work that builds trust with our clients.

How you’ll contribute

You’ll be accountable for the delivery of high-quality process, piping, stress, civil and mechanical engineering outputs — from early concept through to detailed design — ensuring solutions are technically robust, safe, and aligned with what success means for the client.

You’ll:

  • Build a team culture of accountability, collaboration, and pride in engineering excellence
  • Define and own engineering standards, tools, and methodologies and workflows
  • Lead mechanical, piping, and stress, process and civil engineering capability
  • Act as technical authority for mechanical systems, piping design, and stress analysis
  • Manage Process and Civil/Structural departments
  • Support recruitment, mentoring, and resource planning
  • Lead and contribute to mechanical design activities across projects, delivering effective and innovative engineering solutions
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients and internal teams
  • Provide clear, confident technical input in client meetings and design reviews
  • Apply sound engineering judgement to ensure designs are practical, compliant, and commercially aware
  • Support and participate in engineering assurance and safety reviews where required
  • Ensure alignment with industry standards, safety regulations, and company procedures (e.g. EN, ASME, PED)

What you’ll bring

Essentials:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrable experience in leading engineering teams within relevant industries (typically 10 –15+ years)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, including equipment design, specifications, and engineering calculations
  • Strong understanding of multidiscipline design team interfaces and information flow
  • Confident in engineering safety principles and participation in design reviews and risk assessments
  • Robust know of industry codes, standards, and engineering best practices (e.g. EN, ASME, PED)
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and internal teams

Desirables:

  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards (Institution of Mechanical Engineers preferred)
  • Experience with mechanical design and analysis tools (e.g. FEA software, stress analysis tools, or similar)
  • Experience supporting bids, feasibility studies, or concept design work
  • Knowledge of energy, chemicals, or infrastructure sectors
  • Experience recruiting, mentoring and supporting junior engineers

What you’ll get

  • £80,000 to £95,000.
  • Company Performance Related Bonus Scheme
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Private healthcare (plus family options)
  • Company pension
  • Death in Service & Critical Illness cover
  • Work from anywhere in the UK . We’re open to flexible/ hybrid, working arrangements — let’s talk about what works for you.
  • Recognition scheme & genuine commitment to your development

Ready to deliver with confidence?

This isn’t just another Engineering role. It’s an opportunity to bring meaningful change and growth to Technica’s multidiscipline expertise and build lasting relationships — with both clients and colleagues.
