Job Title: HR Business Partner

Location: This role is based in our Grimsby Office with an element of flexibility for remote working. However, the expectation is to be office based for the majority of hours worked.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide awareness and advice to management ensuring that Technica is compliant with up-to-date employment legislation, e.g. IR35, Contracts of Employment etc.
  • Coach senior and line managers on HR and people issues, providing a sounding board and feedback when required.
  • Analyse management information on people metrics and produce reports for the Board of Directors to monitor progress and impact of HR activities in the business.
  • Promote a performance-based culture by ensuing that a robust Appraisal System is in place which will measure performance and identify any employee training needs.
  • Develop and manage the delivery of a training plan to meet identified training needs, resulting in a highly trained workforce delivering excellent service to Technica customers.
  • Support the business by ensuring that structured talent management processes are in place, e.g. for the recruitment and retention of employees as well as addressing any areas of underperformance.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) policies within the business.
  • Act as the EDI champion.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience, competencies, and qualifications:

  • Strong experience (+ 5 years) from having worked as an HR generalist managing a broad spectrum of HR disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes and best practices, e.g. recruitment, and people development.
  • Strong knowledge of Employment Law.
  • Proven track record for building strong professional relationships and credibility across all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Experience of successfully working independently with limited day to day support.
  • Good use of Microsoft suite of applications (word, excel etc.)
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • CIPD qualified or part qualified.

TECHNICA SELECTED TO DELIVER COMPLEX ELECTRICAL CONTROL AND INSTRUMENTATION UPGRADE FOR SGN

Technica has continued to build on a strong relationship with SGN and following a competitive tendering process, has been selected to deliver EC&I installation and commissioning works in support of a major upgrade of a key site in Dorset.

The project will see Technica install and commission a new gas analysis system and flow metering rack, field instrumentation, a regulator skid, a replacement boiler house, fuel gas skid and heat exchanger as well as a new C&I control kiosk including a new telemetry system and a separate electrical switchgear kiosk.

Speaking of the contract award, Richard Law, director at Technica stated “This is excellent news for the whole team who have worked hard on this proposal, as well as the wider project team who will go on and deliver this project for SGN”.  He continued, “This latest award is a demonstration of our strong relationship with this client and their trust in Technica to deliver a successful outcome in relation to this complex installation”.

TECHNICA CONTINUE TO DEVELOP POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH SGN

Following on from contract awards earlier in 2023, Technica has continued to strengthen its relationship with SGN. Having developed a relationship for delivering excellent outcomes for the gas distribution network in relation to the delivery of complex projects, Technica has now been chosen to support a new project across two sites in the south of the UK.

This latest contract award follows a competitive tendering process and will see Technica develop designs to upgrade complex control systems and analytical equipment at sites in the South and South Eastern parts of the SGN network. Technica engineers will then assemble and fully test the equipment before installing and commissioning it in 2024 and early 2025.

Speaking of the contract award, Chairman of Technica, John Davison commented: “SGN has become one of our most important clients and this contract is testament to the positive relationship we have developed with them and more importantly, the trust they have in us to deliver such a complex project at two critical sites on their network.”

Technica has completed their periodic ConCom audit achieving a score of >99%.  ConCom is the Humber region Contractor Competency Forum, an auditing and networking scheme led by a committee of clients.

TECHNICA AWARDED CONTRACT WITH SGN

Technica are set to work with SGN for a further time having been awarded a contract to provide electrical switchgear and telemetry kiosks for installation on their Southern network.

The order will see Technica construct the kiosks at their Grimsby HQ for delivery to site within the current financial year.  The equipment has been procured as part of a wider upgrade to the site which also sees Technica providing the natural gas analysis system and flow metering rack which were awarded as a separate contract earlier this year.

Speaking of the award, Managing Director of Technica, Richard Law commented “We are very grateful for the opportunity to work with SGN and their team again and this contract is the perfect opportunity for us to demonstrate the quality of equipment which our workshop are able to produce”.

The electrical switchgear kiosk will replace obsolete equipment on site, allows for future enhancements and will bring the overall site electrical installation up to the latest standards.  The telemetry kiosk will provide a modern telemetry and control room integrating emergency battery back-up, telemetry, odourisation control, flow metering, cathodic protection and cyber security equipment.
