As a Functional Safety Engineer, you will provide support on national and international contracts for clients in the gas industry. You will provide support from concept through to design, installation, commissioning and final handover to the client of a particular project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clients project requirements from concept to commissioning
  • Lead elements of the Functional Safety Lifecycle
  • Prepare project SIS safety lifecycle plans
  • Undertake Functional Safety Assessments through the project lifecycle
  • Chair and attend LOPAs
  • Carry out internal and client functional safety training session
  • Creation of functional safety documentation: SRS, reliability block diagrams, SIL verification calculations, proof test procedures
  • Checking and approval of functional safety design documentation
  • Liaise with other members of the engineering team, provide input into safety systems designs
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and vendors
  • Attend client meetings
  • Provide commissioning support
  • Work to client, national and international standards and regulations
  • Adhere to company quality and standards
  • Develop and maintain Technica functional safety policies and procedures
  • Attend training, develop and maintain skills

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experiences:

Qualifications:

  • TÜV FS Engineer (or equivalent)
  • HNC Control and Instrumentation minimum

 

Experience:

  • Control, instrumentation, functional safety background
  • Woking knowledge of IEC 61511 essential
  • 10 years design, engineering or management experience minimum
  • 5 years functional safety experience minimum
  • Knowledge of machinery safety standards desired
  • Knowledge of cyber security preferred
  • ExSILentia software experience beneficial
  • ABB TRAC software experience beneficial

As a Control and Instrumentation Designer you will provide engineering design support to the project engineers for contracts for a wide range of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and check C&I detailed design documentation
  • Work from P&IDs and site layouts
  • Prepare and check C&I drawings including general arrangements, cables routes, block diagrams, loops sheets, hook-ups
  • Prepare and check control panel designs including general arrangements and wiring diagrams
  • Specify equipment and prepare and check C&I datasheets
  • Prepare and check C&I schedules including I/O, cable, instrument list etc.
  • Perform design calculations including IS, power, heat loss

Job Title: EC&I Installation Technician / Supervisor

We are building Technica on the successful delivery of that vision. Due to further growth we are now in need of more like minded people who are passionate about delivering engineering excellence to the client. We are looking for a number of Senior Electrical and Instrument Installation Technicians who are either experienced supervisors or are looking to take that next step in their career. The role will report into our Construction Manager and will play a significant part in the successful delivery of our engineered solutions.

The role will be based out of our Grimsby Head Office, this is also the location of our workshop so it is essential that you live or are willing to base yourself within commuting distance of this location. There will be frequent visits to our client sites and this shall involve staying away from home. At times when the role is not based on client sites, there will be a requirement to work at our workshop assisting with construction activities and preparation for future installation and commissioning works.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Installing electrical and instrumentation systems across a range of industrial sites
  • Fault finding and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Testing of installations
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, schedules and vendor specifications
  • Liaison with clients, contractors and appropriate authorities
  • ‘Red pen’ construction drawings and documentation
  • Leading a small team or working as part of a larger team to ensure work is completed on time and to the Technica quality standards
  • Adherence to client regulations and standards.
  • Being a good ambassador for our company

  • City and Guilds 2391
  • Experience in panel building / modification
  • 10 years instrumentation / electrical installation experience
  • Familiarity with working on Oil, Gas, Petrochemical or industrial installations
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • SCO91 and / or SCO 1/2
