Job Title: Metering Technician.

Location: At our clients facility, a Gas Terminal on the East Yorkshire Coast.

Technica are a multi-disciplined design, management and construction company who specialise in providing turnkey projects to the national and international energy sector. Technica established a service department to manage a Metering Contract on behalf of our client 2 years ago and have just been awarded an extension to this contract. Due to expansion of our scope, we are looking to expand our team and add a metering technician to work alongside the existing service team.

As a Metering Technician, you will provide maintenance and operational expertise to our client in the day to day management of their allocation and fiscal metering equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Ensuring the compliance and continual operation of all fiscal, allocation and environmental measurement, sampling and analysis systems with legal and/or contractual implications.

Perform daily checks of all measurement systems and have the capability to analyse and act on active alarms and events.

Ensure that all measurement and test equipment is in good working order, certified for use and fit for purpose, free from defects.

Perform routine planned and corrective maintenance on Fiscal, Allocation & environmental measurement, sampling and analyser systems.

Handling and preparation of any key meters, analytical equipment and secondary instrumentation for recertification or verification at certified calibration facilities.

Provide measurement, sampling and analytical technical support to the operations team.

Handling and preparation of any key meters, analytical equipment and secondary instrumentation for recertification or verification at certified calibration facilities.

Report and provide data to the measurement engineer for any mismeasurements, which have occurred and require reported data to be corrected.

Maintaining measurement system maintenance and operational documentation to allow the operator to demonstrate to auditors and third party verifiers that the assets measurement systems are being operated and maintained to the required legal and contractual standards.

Accompany any third party vendor when providing support to work relating to and measurement, sampling or analytical system.

Preparation of work permits, risk assessments and Isolations in the integrated safe system of work.

Work to client, national and international standards and regulations

Adhere to company quality and standards

Carry out work in a safe and effective manner

Attend training, develop and maintain skills

 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experiences:

Qualifications:

HNC instrumentation or equivalent (minimum)

Metering SVQ desired.

Compex, SBT-01 and MJI-10 desired.

Experience:

Ideally apprentice trained / instrumentation technician background

Experience of working on a Tier 1 COMAH site desirable

Gas Metering experience desirable

The role will be based out of our Grimsby Head Office which is also the location of our workshop. It is essential that you live or are willing to base yourself within commuting distance of this location.

There will be frequent visits to our client sites and this shall involve staying away from home (transport, accommodation and meal allowance will be provided by us). At times when the role is not based on client sites, there will be a requirement to work at our workshop assisting with construction activities and preparation for future installation and commissioning works.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Installing electrical and instrumentation systems across a range of industrial sites.
  • Fault finding and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Testing of installations.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, schedules and vendor specifications.
  • Liaison with clients, contractors and appropriate authorities.
  • ‘Red pen’ construction drawings and documentation.
  • Leading a small team or working as part of a larger team to ensure work is completed on time and to the Technica quality standards.
  • Adherence to client regulations and standards.
  • Being a good ambassador for our company.

  • City and Guilds 2391.
  • CompEx EX01 – 04.
  • Experience in panel building / modification.
  • Instrumentation installation experience.
  • Familiarity with working on Oil, Gas, Petrochemical or Industrial installations.
  • SCO91 and / or SCO 1/2.
