VACANCY: Software Engineer

Due to our ongoing growth, we have a need for a software engineer to join our E, C&I team at our main office in Grimsby.

As a software engineer, your duties will include providing support from concept through to design, installation, commissioning and final handover to the client of a particular project.

Key responsibilities:

  • Configure control system software for a wide variety of PLC & DCS applications
  • Configure SCADA screens
  • Configure safety software for ESD and Fire and Gas applications
  • Work from P&IDs, cause & effects and control philosophies
  • Develop and configure communications networks: Ethernet, profibus etc.
  • Develop and configure serial communications networks: modbus etc.
  • Configure telemetry systems
  • Specify control system equipment
  • Develop test procedures and carry out Factory & Site Acceptance Tests and site commissioning
  • Work to client, national and international standards and regulations
  • Liaise with other members of the design team
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and  vendors
  • Adhere to company quality and standards
  • Carry out work in a safe and effective manner
  • Attend training, develop and maintain skills

The ideal candidates will have the following qualifications and experience as applicable to the role:

Experience:        3 – 5 years software design experience minimum, Siemens, Rockwell & Det-tronics beneficial, functional safety beneficial

Qualifications: Minimum of relevant HNC

As an electrical technician your duties will include installation and testing support to the project engineers for contracts for a wide range of national clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, fault finding and repair electrical systems
  • Testing and inspection of electrical installations
  • Read electrical drawings, schedules and installation standards
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, vendors and relevant authorities
  • ‘Red pen’ construction documentation
  • Complete test documentation
  • Work to client, national and international standards and regulations
  • Carry out work in a safe and effective manner
  • Attend training, develop and maintain skills

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

Qualifications:

  • COMPEX
  • City & Guilds 2382 17th Edition Course
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing
  • Full driving licence
  • IOSH beneficial

Experience:

  • Apprentice trained
  • Supervision of installation works
  • Hazardous area installations
  • Panel building
  • Risk Assessments / Method Statements
  • Gas network experience  beneficial

  • Detailed design engineering for gas and petrochemical projects

  • Prepare and check control panel designs including general arrangements and wiring diagrams
  • Specify equipment and prepare and check C&I datasheets
  • Prepare and check C&I schedules including I/O, cable, instrument list etc.
  • Perform design calculations including IS, power, heat loss
  • Prepare and check scope of work and other associated design documentation
  • Liaise with other members of the design team
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and vendors
  • Work to client, national and international standards and regulations
  • Adhere to company quality and standards
  • Carry out work in a safe and effective manner
  • Attend training, develop and maintain skills

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • HNC Measurement and Control or Electrical Engineering minimum

Experience:
